Ahhh... the enticing aroma of
freshly brewed coffee; one of the more pleasant
smells on earth. It's rich and full scent invites
you to indulge in a sip of heaven whilst in the
earthly realm. Hopelessly ensnared, you move in
the direction of the nearest barista and order
your splurge of java. Retrieving the steaming cup
of black beauty from the counter you carefully
make your way to a secluded corner to begin your
affair. Lifting the goblet to your lips, you
slowly inhale a breath of air with a touch of the
liquid. Ughh! Something has gone terribly wrong.
Bitter, eye watering jolts shoot through your
palette and cause your gut to convulse
involuntarily.
Another case of over-roasted
brew.
North America's taste for huge servings of full
bodied coffee is an epidemic in my opinion. Just
because there are 24 oz. of creamy latte sitting
in front of you doesn't mean that you are king of
the world. I mean, if we were to be honest for a
moment, we would find that you really are
addicted to coffee, aren't you? Caffeine is one
of the hottest legal stimulants on the market
today, but it doesn't have to be your personal
obsession. Properly enjoyed, a cup of joe, made
with loving attention to detail, will add quality
to your life.
Take a moment to savor the taste of your
beverage. Does it leave a bitter taste in your
mouth after half an hour? Does your tongue still
look brown 20 minutes after you finish? After you
have enjoyed your drink, do you feel a bit tenser
than before? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, you could be suffering from a mild
case of what I call "java antipathy".
The cure for this particular malaise can be
remedied in a few different ways.
-
Switch to drinking tea
instead of coffee.
-
Insist that your coffee be
of quality grade and roasted correctly. Over
roasted and overbrewed coffee is the main reason for the
bitterness in your brew.
We have found the best pre-roasted, packaged
coffee to be Illy's Espresso. Our Latte machine
was designed to use espresso pods and we use
Illy's almost exclusively.
The Beat Cafe Hot Beverages
“Tent
Revival” - Vanilla latte with a pinch
of cinnamon and medium foam. A Walz family
favorite!
“Caramel Counsel” - A
comfortingly delectable mocha with a dense froth
and caramel topping.
“Long Sermon” - Need something
to kick you in the pants and remind you to listen
to God’s Word? This powerhouse cup of java
will do the job. Three straight shots of Illy’s dark roast.
“The Apocalypse” - Created
with the daring individual in mind, this
atrocious blend of over roasted coffee and
mysterious flavoring will rock your world! Drink
this culinary disaster at your own risk.
All of our coffee drinks are made with the utmost
care to assure quality.
Due to the ill effects of
caffeine on the human body, we recommend
decaffeinated coffee.
